Take Care

WOOD

Solid wood product is commonly used throughout furniture for its durability and attractive appearance. As a naturally occurring material, solid wood can change in colour over time.

Caring for wood product is quite simple and requires just a few step.

  • Clean with warm neutral PH level soapy water
  • Use a soft, damp (not wet) cloth
  • Apply furniture polish to lacquered wood to enhance shine
  • If chips appear, they can be touched up by a professional using lacquer
  • For deep chips, a professional can sand down the entire surface & re-stain
  • Don’t place hot pans/dishes directly onto a wooden surface

BRASS

Brass and other similar materials all have surfaces with a high shine that tarnishes, or patinas, over time. This patina happens when the brass is exposed to air, and especially reacts when contact is made with liquids. Brass patinas more quickly when exposed to heat. The patina is a natural, often sought after feature, which can add a unique, beautiful character to the surface of the metal.

Caring for your brass parts.

  • Clean with warm water & a gentle, neutral PH soap
  • Use a soft, damp (not wet) cloth to avoid scratching
  • Regular application of beeswax will slow down the formation of the patina
  • If scratches appear a fine grade sandpaper & polishing will help to smooth them out - contact a metal worker to carry out the work professionally
  • Avoid polish if you wish to encourage patina formation
  • Don’t use acidic or alkaline cleaning products

LEATHER

Leather is a popular choice for upholstery as it’s naturally resilient and there are many different colours and finishes that can be applied to it. Leather can be stained easily and so is often coated with a protective film. As a natural material, leather has markings within its makeup and can stretch and become loose over time. With good care practices though, leather can last for many years.

Caring for your leather:

  • Clean spills straight away
  • Use a soft damp (not wet) cloth to clean
  • Dry any excess liquids from cleaning or spills to avoid lasting damage
  • Regularly remove dust with a clean damp cloth
  • Regularly treat your leather with a leather conditioner to help it last longer
  • If stains appear you can remove most stains with a leather cleaner
  • Leather can dry out so it’s important to use furniture wax to keep it supple

ÉGLOMISÉ

Églomisé is a traditional technique of decorative glass painting dating back to Egyptian times. It is a very delicate, elaborate and imperfect craft, which gives each piece its own distinct character.

Caring for your Églomisé:

  • Clean with warm water and a neutral PH level soap
  • Use a soft damp (not wet) cloth to avoid scratching
  • Good quality furniture polish to produce a high sheen

VENEER

Veneered product has a very fine layer of wood on table tops or edges. As a naturally occurring material, veneered surfaces can change in appearance over time.

Caring for your veneered furniture is as below

  • Clean with warm soapy water
  • Use a soft (damp, not wet) cloth
  • Take care to wipe up spills quickly.
  • Apply furniture polish to lacquered wood to enhance shine
  • If chips appear, they can be touched up by a professional using lacquer
  • Don’t place hot pans/dishes directly onto a wooden surface

MARBLE

Marble, Granite & Other Natural Stones are beautiful, naturally occurring materials. They are both strong and durable but also porous and can stain or etch easily. You can seal or lacquer stone to resist stains and etching, but it is important to note that no sealer will completely protect the finish, especially from acids contained in many F&B consumables, and natural stones require proper care to keep them looking their best. Due to the unique, highly individual location where our products may be used, for example restaurants, bars etc, we cannot provide specific advice on the suitability of a particular stone. You are strongly advised to consult your designer on which material is most appropriate for which location depending on wear & tear, high traffic and F&B spills.

Caring for your stone parts

  • Clean with warm water & a gentle, neutral PH - soap
  • Use a soft (damp, not wet) cloth
  • Don’t place tea pots or hot beverages directly onto surfaces
  • Don’t place hot pans/dishes directly onto surfaces
  • Don’t use acidic or alkaline cleaning products

FABRIC

Natural fabric is any fabric that comes from natural sources. This includes wool and cotton. Wool provides safe and comfortable upholstery for use in any commercial space. Cotton is lightweight and flexible and is great for many different types of furniture. Natural fabrics can be dyed to any colour.

  • Soak up spills straight away
  • Use lukewarm water & a neutral PH detergent to remove stubborn stains
  • Vacuum gently to remove dust
  • If chips appear, they can be touched up by a professional using lacquer
  • For deep chips, a professional can sand down the entire surface & re-stain
  • Don’t place hot pans/dishes directly onto a wooden surface

Remove wax & similar substances by freezing the area with ice cubes & breaking away piece by piece.
